Healthy living habits are the keys to good health, a fabulous body, and a longer life. Eating a healthy and balanced diet is important for losing weight successfully. The same is true for a regular exercise program. Having these in your lifestyle will put you inches closer to losing excess pounds.
The importance of eating a healthy diet is priceless. Controlling your eating habits can actually benefit not only yourself but anyone else who would like to try your slimming recipe. A good indicator for health is your BMI. Your Body Mass Index indicates the measure of weight that takes height into account. Increased risk of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease are often associated with high BMIs. To keep your BMI and body fat low, choose low-fat and low-cholesterol foods. If you can’t keep your hands off the bacon then minimize the amount of high-fat foods you eat and decrease the portion size. Add more whole grains and vegetables in your diet. Also cut down the consumption of other fats such as butter, margarine, and mayonnaise. Use their low or non-fat counterparts if you cannot avid them. At the end of the day, self-control in your food diet is what will make you healthy.
Next is exercise. People who exercise regularly are most likely to keep unwanted weight off of them. People who venture into sports have higher chances of losing those unwanted body fats and that large belly. Physical activity not only controls your weight but it also makes you healthier because it generally lowers blood pressure, helps control blood sugar levels and prevent having diabetes, enhances your self-esteem, and reduces anxiety, depression, and stress. As you can see, exercise not only maintains your physical wellness but also your mental and emotional wellness too.
Physical exercise does not mean that you should go and enroll at a gym or join health clubs. An hour or less of physical activity each day may give out good results. But of course, if you want to lose more weight, you have to spend more time and exert more effort to it. Studies show that moderate amounts of non-strenuous physical activity can give big improvements in one’s health and fitness. Brisk walking may do for beginners but as you progress along, you may venture into running or swimming. The end result of these is nothing but a healthier you.
